Setting category expenditure for a non-standard period
- The pre-set periods are per year, per
quarter, per
month and per
week, but if your category expenditure data covers a non-standard
period then use the per other period option,
and indicate the period length in the days box
- A simple example of a non-standard period is the expenditure asscociated
with smoking. If a smoker consumes a pack a day, at $5 a pack, then
category data entry should look like this:
which produces an annual expenditure - in the budget tree - of $1,825:
- And if you manage to reduce your habit to 1 pack every 2 days
then you can reflect this change by increasing the expenditure period
to 2 days, and have the pleasure of seeing the annual
figure reduce
to $912
in the budget.
